How To Work For Yourself

Congratulations, you have considered a different path for your future. There are so many reasons and so many opportunities in this world not to consider working for yourself. I am here to help you on this endevour and answer the age-old question of how to work for yourself. Whatever your reason is, is yours and it has led you to the crossroads in life where you decide to stay in your current situation or change lanes. I have over ten years experience owning a company and now a new path has presented itself to me and this suits me at this time in my life. I have worked with the public in many avenues for 25 years, and I have learned what I can handle, not handle, what I’m good at, not so good at and what I am best suited for in the long term.

It’s All About You

You have to think about what’s important to you, what fits your needs, what you want to accomplish and what you are passionate about. Do you want to travel? Do you want to stay home? Do you like to work with your hands? Do you like to work with animals? Do you like to work with people? These are a few questions that I hope you have already asked yourself. If you haven’t then sit down and take your time thinking about it and write down some of your ideas.

How About Versatility ?

If you had to move out of state, can you work anywhere in your current position?  Are you able to take leave from your current job for medical reasons without losing pay? I have a disabled daughter that has been in and out of the hospital her entire life and I need the flexibility to be there for her and still earn money for the bills.  I experienced the lack of versatility for a very long time. Sure I would apply for a job transfer in a few states for positions I had experience but nothing happened. That was one sign that I was stuck. I want to explore the world, or at least see all 50 states while making an income. When you work for yourself, you have the freedom to choose what you want.

What I Hear From People

Lately I have been listening to people talk about their trade careers and how it is getting harder and harder to find people that are interested in learning that trade. Trade careers are carpenters, construction workers, electricians of the world and they have a very important job to do but when nobody is willing to learn and follow in the footsteps, what do you think may happen?  I’m not telling you this to make you feel guilty for not being interested but to know that times change.  There will be a time where computers do everything for us.

Technology Is The Future

Everywhere you look someone has a new smart phone or iPhone in their hands. When you go to the mall you will see the Apple store filled with people getting the lasted and greatest product. More companies are making services available online for the customers for their convenience. I remind people that the internet is open 24/7, no need to waste gas driving, filling out paper applications, inquiring in person, shopping in a mobbed store, paying for parking and wait in line complaining.  I am sure that you have seen or heard by now about the kiosks in fast food restaurants taking your order and processing your payment for the food.  Customer service jobs are everywhere but technology is taking over there too.  Each time you call a company, a computer picks up to either route you to a representative or to handle it electronically.  Can technology take over your job?  You can learn to be on top of the curve and flow with the future.

You Don’t Need A Degree For This

A few years ago, I was looking for a new career path for several reasons. The primary reason is that I was miserable where I was and I wasn’t making enough money to support my family. I started looking online at careers that aligned with my passion for healing people with nutrition. I enrolled in college and I do graduate in 5 months, but my degree is Alternative Medicine. College is expensive and gives no guarantee that you will have your dream job.  How about education, community support, training, advice, and tech support while building websites of your own? No joke, no breaking the bank. No experience necessary. No studying for tests. No set hours. No degree needed.

What Is It Then?

It is affiliate marketing. You will be taught how to build your own website step by step. This is a solid, long term way of making money online. There are two paths to choose from, creating a niche site or branding yourself as a company. Both are successful paths if you are willing to put in the time and effort. There are thousands and thousands of people all over globe that are creating websites and making money online. The community is supportive and are willing to help out 24/7.

  1. I love this post because of how informative yet straight to the point it is. With internet shopping set to soar in the upcoming years, now is as good a time as any to start a business. I can attest to how awesome it I is to work for yourself when you’re able to set the schedule that you want. The crazy thing is you don’t even need to do it all the time to see results. Once the work is done you will see results.

  2. I love your article, including the title. It was interesting to read and I agree that it is not a get rich quick scheme (otherwise I would have made money by now). Wealthy Affiliate requires time, dedication, perseverance, hard work, and belief that you will succeed with time.

  3. Boy, you hit the nail on the head, feeling stuck is not fun. And your right nearly everyone is on the internet these days. I remember when it use to be a novel thing to buy something on the internet but now days it’s just a part of our everyday life. Working from anywhere at my convenience sounds amazing!

  4. Thank you for this article. It is great working from home but it can be a bit scary from time to time. Having a wealth of information definitely makes it easier

    1. I agree, it’s scary. You are responsible for everything including health insurance. The information that is out there today is so large and available. Thank you for the comment.

  5. I was a Heavy duty steel fabricator/welder for 5 years and everyday seemed like a chore. 12 hour days and heavy, hot work, it all just seemed in vain. I turned my sights to online marketing where if I put in the same amount of time and realised I could make some serious headway in my own niche and business.

Wealthy affiliate is who I use and was super happy to see you promoting them and not one of the scam, pyramid scheme affiliate marketing programs. They are a true community who I rely on every day to help me build my buisness.

Love the post and everything about it!
    Well done Candice 🙂

    1. Jake, thank you so much for sharing your story. I’ve been in that job where you put all your time and efforts in and get very little back. It’s frustrating. The community that I found with Wealthy Affiliate is exactly what I needed. I work harder when I’m supported and it does make all the difference to have people believe in you.

  6. You summed it up perfectly. Affiliate Marketing is a fantastic opportunity to work from home, be your own boss and build something longterm in a niche that you love. Thank you for a great post.
Love your whole website. Lots of fantastic articles. Keep up the good work.
